The ITIL-process Security Management describes the structured fitting of information security in the management organization. Outside of ITIL, other IT Service Management approaches and frameworks exist, including the Enterprise Computing Institute's library covering general issues of large scale IT management, including various Service Management subjects. The set of best practices, which were developed in the UK in the 1980s, have become the standard for IT service management globally, despite the fact that the framework represents a dramatic shift from traditional IT thinking.
